Features

Every format trains a different skill.

Dev Gym is built from short formats that fit around a working day. Each one asks for a different kind of thinking, and every answer moves your Skill Map.

Training formats

01

Daily Workout

What it is
One set of five reps a day, built from your training split and the areas your Skill Map says are fading.
Why it matters
Each rep asks for a different kind of thinking: recall, predict, find the bug, review a PR, explain it. Short enough to do every day, varied enough that you can’t coast.

02

Quick Rep

What it is
A single rep on its own. Answer it on Apple Watch, or on any device when you have a minute.
Why it matters
Practice still happens on the days a full workout won’t fit, and the answer counts toward your Skill Map like any other rep.

03

PR Drill

What it is
A pull request to review: the diff, its description and the job of the reviewer. Leave the comments you would leave at work, then compare them with the authored review.
Why it matters
Reviewing code you didn’t write, much of it generated, is now a daily part of the job. A PR Drill is practice at catching what a diff hides.

04

60/60

What it is
A 60-second lesson and one quick question, sent at times you choose and drawn from your training split. Your answer counts as a rep.
Why it matters
Small, spaced lessons keep a topic fresh between workouts, at the moments in your day that you picked.

05

Learn paths

What it is
A structured path through a framework or a skill, taught with visual explanations: diagrams that show what the code does, one step at a time.
Why it matters
Some topics need teaching before they can be practised. A path teaches the idea, then your workouts keep it.

06

Daily Reads

What it is
One worthwhile read a day from Apple’s documentation, WWDC sessions and the developer community, with a note on why it’s worth your time.
Why it matters
Staying current takes a few minutes a day when the filtering has been done for you. Save a read to come back to it later.

What’s New packages

What it is
Each Swift, SwiftUI and platform release, turned into a package: a 60-second overview, what changed, why it matters, and a refresher you can train.
Why it matters
Release notes tell you what shipped. A package gets the changes that affect you into practice, with links to Apple’s own sources.

Skill Map

What it is
Every area you train, from strong to fading. Spaced review brings fading topics back before they slip.
Why it matters
You can see where you’re sharp and where you aren’t, and the next workout acts on it. Progress is measured in what you can still do, not in points.
